K.G.F: Chapter 2 Review: Gangster Nai, Monster Hai!

K.G.F: Chapter 1 was the massive hit and loved by many, where viewers still love to watch if aired on a television. Now just as Bahubali 2 and Pushpa 2, KGF 2 also became the highly anticipated film in India. The film was originally scheduled to release in theatres on 23 October 2020, coinciding with Dussehra festival. However, the release was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic in India. In January 2021, the filmmakers announced that it will be released theatrically on 16 July 2021. However, it was postponed again for the same reason. Eventually in August 2021, the new release date was announced as 14 April 2022. Now as the wait is over, I guess the fans will not get a disappointment.

The story takes further from where it ends. KGF (Kolar Gold Fields) has a new king as Rocky, where the workers working over there see him as a God, the people who hired Rocky to kill Garuda have now turned into his enemy as they were expecting to become the lord of KGF, and the Government sees Rocky as the most wanted and biggest criminal of India. How Rocky fights among all odds to remain the King of KGF forms the crux of the story.

As we all know that content is the King, so the major success of any film depends on it. And here the expectations of people will not turn into a disappointment, as its being superbly written and brilliantly executed. As the first-half pickups the story, the second-half turns into a fast-pace vehicle.

Apart from the intense and gripping storyline, the film is again filmed with seeti-maar dialogue-baazi, smashing entries of lead cast, powerful music, amazing performances, superb direction, and an action-packed with an emotional climax.

On a personal front, KGF 2 recalled my memories and experiences stick with Avengers: Endgame. The latter movie too had gripping storyline, seet-maar dialouges and entries, along with an action-packed climax with an emotional ending. Will not give the spoiler here, but you will understand when you will watch KGF 2 and relate it to Avengers: Endgame.

Each and every character has given an equal time frame with respect to its prominence in the film. The film has a perfect end, where it’s a win-win and lose-lose outcome for both, Rocky and its Enemies. In KGF 1, Rocky wins and Garuda loses. But in KGF 2, it’s a win-win and lose-lose outcome. Watch the film, and you will understand it better. And so, I think it’s a perfect justice-wala ending to end this mega-series (just like Avengers: Endgame). Hats-Off and Take a Bow from my-side to the writer-director of KGF 1 and 2 – Mr. Prashanth Neel.

Best Scenes

While there are many, but mentioning here some of my best to the memory. Do not miss to watch the scene which comes just after the interval (it’s one of my best). Also, when a mother gives her blessing to Rocky after fulfills her wish to see her son’s body, the final clash between Rocky and Adheera in the gold-mine, and the ending when Rocky decides to take all the gold with him in the ship. You will have Goosebumps while watching these and many more scenes in the movie.

While people will once again fall in love with Yash’s swag, attitude and heroism in the Chapter 2, the strong performances of our Hindi actors are worthy enough to mention. Sanju baba (Sanjay Dutt) has all the ingredients for a menace role and I believe no one can replace him or even think as Adheera. He played a perfect powerful antagonist against Rocky – The Sultan. On the other side, Raveena Tandon is like a tigress while playing as a sharp and fearless Prime Minister of India. Her dialogue delivery with a roaring facial look simply amazes the viewers.

FilmyAkkie’s Final Word

Agar Pushpa Flower Nai, Fire Hai… Toh Rocky aur uski Kahani Gangster Nai, Monster Hai! A definite must-watch for all those who were patiently waiting to watch KGF: Chapter 2. And for those, who still haven’t watched the Chapter 1, I suggest in watching both now (if you love watching raw and massy action films).
