Pink Review: We Need More Films Like Pink!

Amitabh Bachchan starrer ‘Pink’ has raised a much expectation among the audience with respect to its trailer and story-line. And now as the film has been released, let’s see how far this expectation has been reached to please the moviegoers.

Three girls – Minal Arora (Taapsee Pannu), Falak Ali (Kirti Kulhari) and Andrea (Andrea Tariang) – are staying together as tenants in a posh South Delhi locality and are normal working professionals in their respective fields. One night, after a rock concert they accept a dinner invitation from Rajveer (Angad Bedi) and two others to a resort in Surajkund, Faridabad district, Haryana. Rajveer and his friends get drunk and try to molest Minal Arora (Taapsee Pannu) and her two roommates. Andrea is touched inappropriately by Dumpy (Raashul Tandon). Minal picks up a bottle and smashes it on Rajveer’s eye, leaving him bleeding despite she said NO to him. Rajveer lodged a wrong FIR against the girls labeling them prostitutes, using his powerful connections. Minal is charged for ‘Attempt to murder’, where she could face imprisonment for more than 10 years, if convicted.

Deepak Sehgall (Amitabh Bachchan) is a lawyer suffering from bipolar disorder who experiences frequent mood swings. He represents the girls in the court. Produced by Shoojit Sircar, the film revolves around how Deepak fights the girls’ case against these influential boys.

Well, with respect to this storyline, everyone wasexpecting a taut thriller and director Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury has perfectly shaped and narrated the film to give more than one’s expectation. Yes, you heard it right! Right from its first scene to the last one, you would stick like glue into your seat and would what happens next. How the girls are getting trapped by the boys and how Amitabh help the girls in clearing their names to stand in front of the society is all you need to watch. Do not miss the entire courtroom drama, especially the climax.pink-movie

While first-half remains steady but still engaging, it’s the second half that keeps you hooked right till end scene. And I believe, the entire credit goes to Mr. Amitabh Bachchan, where without him the movie would not be as striking and memorable as it has been now.

Meanwhile, not only presenting a super-taut suspense-thriller film, but the writer Ritesh Shah along with the director had also given out a hard-hitting message to the society. Do watch out and know it for yourself! And I hope it creates some impact and affect the society to bring out some positive change, especially towards women.

Apart from Amitabh Bachchan, who delivers his one of the best performance here, actress Taapsee Pannu has showed some powerful performance here and in fact managed to impress with her skills in spite of being performing in front of Big B. She is surely one of the great performers we have, and I would love to see her in more and more such movies, where she gets a chance to show her talent.

Kirti Kulhari also impresses here and gives a stellar performance. does a decent job, Angad Bedi effectively plays his character, Piyush Mishra is as usual exceptional, and others supported quite well in making a perfect watchable film.

So is it a Paisa-Vasool film? With power-packed performances by actors, especially Amitabh Bachchan, and gripping story-line helps the movie to score full marks. It’s definitely a Paisa-Vasool film and must-must watch for everyone, especially for the girls and today’s youth. We need more films like PINK!

Rating: 4.5/5 (0.5 for its theme and message)
